Santa Dash 3000 Father Christmas's running 5 and 10k courses around Clapham Common all raising money for GOSH - Great Ormond Street Hospital. Setting up at 8.00 I started playing Xmas tunes about 9.00 through an amazing sound system installed all round the course and beefed up with several 5k stacks in the centre of the common. There was a 20 minute break when a band of French drummers played, then it was into upbeat tunes to get
The SportsBall is SportsAid's annual gala charity dinner, raising money for the next generation of British athletes. This event was held in the Park Lane Hilton in London and I was the main entertainment, DJing for three and half hours. Attended previously by Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Cambridge, SportsAid's Patron, and with the charity celebrating its 40th anniversary, the SportsBallTM 2017 is reaching higher and making more of a difference to young sports people than ever before. SportsAid helps the next generation
I was lucky enough to get invited to the Blondie concert at the O2 in Brixton. Not only that I was given backstage passes by the bands drummer Clem Burke, who I am pictured with below: From the when 80's star Debbie Harry and the band launched into their set with the new wave classic ‘One Way or Another’ from 1978’s Parallel Lines, the crowd at the sold out Brixton Academy were whipped into a jubilant fever, something the band
The Benefits of Hiring a Smaller Venue I’m not sure when the trend for giant weddings kicked off but now it seems like there’s no way to get out of throwing a massive do. Food vans, sweet tables, even carnival rides; it seems like the only way to fit everything in is to hire out a football field. Despite our obsession with ‘bigger being better’ there are a lot of perks to refrain from hiring carnival dancers and instead dialling
I was delighted to be asked to be part of an event to raise money for the Doddie Weir Trust. The evening was for 2000 plus people to have a night of fun and entertainment to raise money for the trust. In the audience where over 120 Rugby International players like Jonny Wilkinson and industry leaders and celebrities. Hosted by Gabby Logan and Rory Bremner, it was a real fun night. I played 2 45 minute sets which went down
Frensham Ponds - I played at a wedding in Millbridge Court, by Frensham Ponds last weekend, my first time at this venue and hopefully not the last. Really interesting and well laid out building for a wedding with two rooms one for dining and the other the entertainment. The Bride and groom wanted a mixture of 80's 90's and current with a bit of club music in there too. The Groom messaged me the next morning to say "Thanks for
Stoke Newington - I played in a great party venue a few weeks back called the Old Church in Stoke Newington, London. The occasion was a 50th birthday and the requested music was 80's and more of the New Romantic style from that time frame. The building lent itself to uplighting as this really brought out its features. I also showed images from 1967 news reals as this was the date that the birthday couple had been born in.
Tower Bridge, London - I get to play at all sorts of venues in both in the Uk and abroad, but the walkway in Tower Bridge has got to be one of the most unusual. I followed on from an amazing Indian Tabla band, with a Haircut One Hundred 80's playlist (the 40th birthday girl was a big Nick Heywood fan). This was an 80's Party like no other I had played at, the glass floor 42 metres above the River
Hyde Park London - On 7th Oct, I DJ'd in Hyde Park for Great Ormond Street Hospital, I think its such an important charity to support. The event was a fun run and attracted over 4,000 entrants, which meant I was DJing to about 10,000 people. On stage with me at the beginning was Vernon Kay who went on to take part in the race itself. The team at Great Ormond Street - London seemed happy with what I
Purple Turtle Reading - DJ'd at an amazing 40th party in Reading a few weeks back. The theme was 80's -90's indie - remixed chart music. The venue Purple Turtle could not have been better, great staff, sound system and overall vibe. Really enjoyed playing there. If you are thinking of having a party and live near Reading, then I would certainly consider having the Purple Turtle as a venue. Here are a few videos and playlist from the night.
