60’s and 70’s party

60's and 70's party - This brought back a few memories to the people attending the birthday party held in a beautiful surrey cottage last weekend. The client wrote to me the next day saying "We really enjoyed the music yesterday evening. A friend has written to say it was their first time on the dance floor in 10 years, so that can't be bad!"   Here are the tunes I played: Oh Lori Alessi Brothers Oh, Babe What Would

Godmersham, Kent – wedding

Kent Wedding - When the owners of Godmersham in Kent wanted a DJ for their 300 sit-down wedding it was Spectrum Disco and Paul Linney that they chose to spin tunes into the early hours. This historic venue appears on the new English £10 note and was owned by Jane Austin's brother. There was a real mix of guests with very varied musical tastes so despite the numbers it was quite a hard gig. This is what the organiser said

50th Party in Surrey – Reggae Ska and a bit of 80’s

50th Party in Surrey - Reggae Ska and a bit of 80's. I was approached by the Head of School at Surrey University to DJ at her 50th after a recommendation from her students, which was nice. After having a chat on her musical preferences this was definitely going to be an interesting gig..... The request went like  "an 80’s theme- mostly dance, I was never a Duran fan!  I was more mod into ska back then which progressed to

South Coast Corporate fun

After last years successful event at Centre Parcs, Bunzl - Greenham decided that this year they would hold their conference at Butlins in Bognor.  I have to say, I was blown away by the facilities there, both for the guests and entertainers. This was a full on production, the theme was casino and they had variety acts and singers during the meal and then from 10.00 till 01.0 it was myself and the casino tables plus the odd bar or

Wedding at The Wharf, Teddington, London

This was my first time playing at The Wharf in Teddington, London, although I had been there as a customer several times and always enjoyed myself. This was a real family wedding, with something for everyone. A childrens disco before the first dance and party games as well. The playlist was varied to suit all ages and was a hit with the groom who messaged me the next day: Hi Paul. Thank you so much everyone had an amazing time.

Festival Wedding

I got to DJ at an amazing festival wedding a few weeks back. It had everything, from fire pits to hog roasts and chocolate fountains and with over 250 guests it really was a fun occasion. Musically, I played at the ceremony and then some chilled background music during the wedding breakfast, till the band started. They played wedding favourites and I followed on with some funk and disco till midnight, from midnight till 02.00 it was more orientated to

Middle of the road Wedding

Middle of the road wedding - Weddings tend to bring together family and friends of all ages and musical tastes, so a middle of the road playlist is often required and can be enormous fun. This is what the bride had to say, the day after her wedding........
