What songs actually work for a Party???

What songs should be played at a Party or Wedding? It really depends on the guests, the more varied the guests the more varied the music, unless the party is themed or the person paying the bill requests a particular style or musical genre to be played all night. Here are some links to some suggestions. Dance-party playlist: 100 greatest songs for an epic party   For a wedding reception: 1. "I Will Survive" - Gloria Gaynor (1975) 2. "Don't

Wedding at Northcote House Ascot

Great wedding last night at Northcote House in Ascot. Rachel and James had more than 100 guests of all ages at their reception at the lovely Northcote House in Ascot. It's quite a large venue for that number of people, but by playing a varied selection of music I ensured there was something for everybody as you can see from the playlist below:   Volare PLAY (Nel Blu Dipinto Di Blu) David Bowie Tainted Love PLAY Grandmagneto Crazy Little Thing Called

Happy Days Festival

Its a while since my last blog, this has mainly been due to how busy I have been. Last weekend consisted of Saturday at the NY Bar in Cobham for the night I promote called Club 80 which is a night of original and remixed tracks you would have heard in a club in the eighties. This Wednesday, I have a meeting with an entertainment agency who are looking to put me in 4 to 5 star hotels in the run up to Xmas. My club work is also on the up, so

The location was right in the middle of the Park football pitch with the chairs outside and me playing motown love songs as the guests arrived. When the Bride walked down the aisle her sister sang a Sade number to her and I played Signed Sealed Delivered. I also took photos of the blessing and

60’s Wedding

I DJ'd at two weddings over the Bank Holiday and have another two this weekend. Last Saturday, I played the music at 60's soul / Northern Soul themed wedding. The bride and groom turned up in an old Jag she looked like twiggy in a short white mini skirt and he was very mod looking. Musically it made a change for me and was really enjoyable although some guests in the evening appeared to be a little bit musically illiterate

Great Wedding Disco

DJ'd at a great wedding at the weekend. The location was a converted old barn deep in the Royal Berkshire countryside, there was about 150 guests, which really helps make the wedding go with swing (why do more couples not invite more guests to the evening reception?) I had been told to read the crowd and keep them dancing a lovely free brief in this age of lengthy song lists. This is what I played. 1 Dream A Little Dream
